Aphrodite d'Orléans

"Aphrodite d'Orléans" was born from reading enlightening articles about "the aesthetic burden placed on women and the consequences for their mental health."

In creating this work, I aim to invite the viewer to engage in deep reflection on a global phenomenon: ageism and the overwhelming pressure that women face to remain young in order to maintain their place in society. I aspire not only to expose this issue but also to celebrate beauty in all its forms, regardless of age.

Therefore, I invite you to reflect on the impact of these societal pressures: how can we, individually and collectively, redefine our perception of beauty and femininity beyond age-related norms?

Yemanjá

This work embodies a divinity that is both African and Afro-Brazilian, revered as a mother goddess and protector of women as well as sailors. She reigns over the oceans, captivating the gaze with the features of an enchanting siren.

The hybrid representation, combining woman and fish, illustrates the complexity of the duality between humanity and nature. It invites us to reflect deeply on our relationship with our environment and the consequences of the damage inflicted on our marine and freshwater ecosystems.

The Two Faces of Persephone

This work embodies almost all aspects of our existence, exploring the depths of the dualism that characterize our lives. Through the myth of Persephone, we are confronted with universal themes such as light and darkness, life and death, passion and despair.

Persephone also questions the notions of choice and sacrifice. She thus becomes an emblematic figure of the duality of the feminine, representing both fragility and strength, softness and determination.

This work invites us to reflect on the different layers of our own existence. How do we navigate our own dualities? How do experiences of joy and pain, success and failure shape our identity and our perception of the world?

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

This story strikingly illustrates the internal struggle between good and evil that resides within each of us. The duality between Jekyll and Hyde symbolizes the complexity of the human soul.

Jekyll's wanderings in this quest for pleasure and freedom lead him to a moral conflict, thus illustrating the struggle between societal norms and inner desires. The work invites us to reflect on our own duality: are we able to recognize and accept our shadow selves, or do we choose to ignore them, at the risk of losing ourselves in darkness?
